Leather jacket repair and care
A leather jacket can last for decades if zippers, seams and worn areas are repaired at the right time.
Leather needs specialist handling
Leather is not repaired like woven fabric. Needle choice, stitch density and reinforcement all matter because wrong work can weaken the material.
Old stitch holes remain visible, so planning is important before replacing a zipper or opening a seam.
Zippers, seams and tears
A worn slider may be replaceable, but missing teeth or damaged zipper tape require a full replacement. On leather jackets this takes more time because the old seam line must be respected.
Tears usually need internal reinforcement or a patch. Complete invisibility is rare, but a controlled repair can make the jacket wearable again.
Fast preliminary quote
What to send so we can estimate the price and timing faster
A short message and a few details are enough:
- 1 Photos or a short video: the whole item and a close-up of the problem area.
- 2 Item type, material (if known) and quantity.
- 3 What happened or what you want changed; the desired result and relevant measurements.
- 4 Your location; fitting or parcel delivery; preferred deadline and urgency.
The preliminary estimate is free. We confirm the final price after inspecting the item.
Care at home
Do not dry leather on a radiator and do not machine-wash it. If it gets wet, dry it at room temperature on a hanger.
Use a suitable leather-care product occasionally, first testing it in a hidden place.
When repair may not be sensible
If the leather is dry, cracked and thin across the whole surface, a local repair may only delay the next tear. We will tell you if the work is not sensible.
Frequently asked questions
Can a leather jacket zipper be replaced?
Yes, but it is more complex than a regular jacket because leather keeps needle marks and needs suitable tools.
Can a tear in leather be invisible?
Usually not completely. The goal is a strong and discreet repair that stops further tearing.
