Broken zipper: can it be repaired or must it be replaced?
If a zipper sticks, opens after closing or has missing teeth, the right solution depends on which part has failed.
Start by identifying the failure
A zipper has several possible problems: a worn slider, missing teeth, damaged tape, a broken pull or a zipper that no longer matches the garment tension.
The price depends on the garment and the construction. A trouser zipper is not the same job as a long winter coat or leather jacket zipper.
Slider replacement is the simplest repair
The slider is the moving part that joins the teeth. When it wears out, the zipper may open behind it even though the teeth are still good.
Replacing the slider is faster and cheaper than replacing the whole zipper, but it only works when the rest of the zipper is sound.

Full zipper replacement takes more work
A full replacement means removing the old zipper and sewing in a new one without damaging the garment. Jackets, coats and leather pieces require more time because layers, lining and material thickness matter.
We try to match the color and type closely, but exact factory matches are not always available.
Send photos before posting the item
For postal repair, photograph the full garment, the whole zipper length and the damaged area. This lets us judge whether the job is suitable before you send it.

If the teeth are intact but the zipper opens after closing, the slider is usually worn and can often be replaced.
